Nice coat but zipper is terrible and broke quickly
BoulderChris –
I love the slim fit and look of this jacket! It’s trim through the waist, plenty long in the sleeves, yet with room through the chest & shoulders (a rare combo in 95% of gear these days). Interior feels like down but thankfully is high quality synthetic insulation (a mostly vegan jacket). Sadly the hood is ridiculously oversized, even bigger than you’d ever need wearing a helmet (which most wouldn’t do with this style jacket). BUT the one truly HUGE FAIL is the front zipper! I can’t fathom how a $400 jacket from a company with Fjallraven’s reputation can have a zipper this bad? I’ve only had this jacket for a few hours and I likely have to return it. It’s nearly impossible to get this zipper started. I’d read similar experiences from other reviewers but I assumed it wasn’t the norm but this single failing probably makes this jacket unusable for anyone that buys it.

Very nice quality jacket. Read negative reviews about the zipper but have not had a problem with it personally. Warm enough for 95% of winter days.

AMAZING!!! I purchased it for my husband and I so happy I did. I based the size off of other brands that I knew fit him well and it turns out this brand is 1 size smaller. He’s usually an XL and I got an XXL and it fits perfectly. 1 quirt..the zipper is on the other side (like a female jacket would be)

AWESOME!!! I did order a size up for my husband based on comparing other size charts of brands that I knew fit him. Also the zipper is on the opposite side (like a women’s jacket) which is not a big deal just an adjustment. He’s VERY happy with this jacket!

Very comfortable, easy to wear and keeps you warm. Various colors to choose from. I loved.

Truly, the best jacket I’ve ever owned. Amazed by the quality and love that the sleeves are long enough for my arms. Immediately bought the non-padded jacket as well. Fan for life and worth every penny.

Bought this for my husband as a gift and for the money it is totally not worth it! He loved the jacket but the zipper was broken a few months after he got it. Cant be fixed and cant return. Disappointed!!
Mikerock –
I am just starting my second winter with this jacket and an still just as happy as when I got it

Ive bought jackets at a discount market that was more enjoyable to wear. The zipper takes at least 5 tries to get to even start to zip and the bottom comes unzipped relentlessly while wearing. 10/10 do not recommend . After reading these reviews I see its a common issue they will not fix

Why why why won’t Fjallraven listen to all the complaints about the zip? It’s horrible, difficult to use, feels like it’s made from cheap plastic. Half the time I can’t get the pin into the box, plus it doesn’t lock at the top nor bottom! So frustrating for an amazing jacket that I’d otherwise give 5 stars to. I’m 5’10” and 210lbs and the XL is nicely loose fitting enough so that I can easily wear a fleece or vest underneath if needed. I originally bought the Nuuk but found it to be too warm for winters in the south Appalachian region (20-30 degrees) so I exchanged it for the Skogso which has roughly half the insulation weight. If you live in truly colder climates you may find this one a little too light, and should go with the Nuuk. Love the padded hood which keeps my head toasty on its own without a beanie. I bought it in the Autumn Leaf color which is so unique, and stands out from everyone else who’s wearing black jackets. Recommend the wax treatment to maintain the waterproofing after each winter.

Love the waxed cotton exterior with the cozy insulated interior, and I really appreciate the little organizers in the chest pockets. However, the arms are much too long and I find myself constantly fiddling with the wrist velcros trying to get them comfortable. This jacket needs shorter arms, and a thinner wrist velcro area, as the fabric bunches up and allows air in, while also being uncomfortable on bare skin. Additionally, the embroidery is already coming undone after about a week of wearing around town, and I have concerns about the quality of the zipper. Fjallraven, please take note of these concerns as this would be a perfect jacket otherwise.

This is my storm proof Jacket! I wear it every winter, and I never worry about extreme weather.

Aesthetic impression: Bought this type of coat at an REI store last winter, i think. The symmetry of the pockets always scratches that part of my brain that demands all my clothes are as symmetrical as possible. 8-ish pockets in total. I’m still not sure if the inside hips pockets are indeed pockets.
Useage impression: It has easily withstood low temps around 15 F with minimal other insulation. The zipper occasionally catches on the inside fabric going up, but is pretty manageable. The bungee adjustments make it easier to lock the hood to my head on those really gusty days without obstructing my vision.
One thing that does hit a check mark is tge lining. Normally, the smooth fabric lining clings too much or catches my hairs weird. Not this stuff, it definitely is higher quality. I definitely love this one, hoping to purchase more stuff soon.

I’m very pleased with everything about this jacket. The quality and durability are excellent and I’m baffled by the reviews stating the zipper is of poor quality. My jacket is extremely well-built and there are no quality control issues. In fact, it’s the opposite; this thing is built like a tank and I expect it will last for decades. I’m 5’10” and 165 with a muscular build and the medium fits great. I think the only thing that would change is to make the hood a little smaller since this jacket really isn’t designed to be worn with the hood over a helmet. You can sinch the hood down to a snug fit, which is critical for me in a jacket, but if not tightened down, I would describe it as a helmet compatible hood given how large it is. The pockets are numerous and well-placed and the bottom draw string is also a critical included feature which keeps drafts out. This jacket is very warm and really blocks the wind. I feel protected when I wear it and am bummed that it’s already spring time! Overall, I highly recommend this extremely well-crafted piece and I’m looking forward to years of use!

The worst. DO NOT BUY. The zipper does not work. I am so disappointed that I purchased this for my husband.
We bought it last year at REI before heading on a trip to Ireland.
The zipper was a bit sticky, which we thought it would work itself out as the coat was new.
But it NEVER got better…. it only got worse.
Now, it does not zip, and the teeth are missing due to my husband’s frustration with trying to zip it each time.
What a waste of money. I wish I had gone online to read the reviews.
Not sure why the brand does NOT fix this issue.
I wish we never purchased it.
Clos619 –
Absolutely love this jacket. It’s exactly what I was looking for when it’s cold and damp outside. Fits like a glove and stylish as well. You can’t go wrong with this jacket.
Frustrated –
It is shameful that a $365 jacket has a cheap zipper that more than half the owners have trouble with. I’ve owned jackets from North Face, Patagonia, and Arcteryx……………NEVER seen a zipper as problematic as the one on the Skogso. Apparently I am not the only one.
