I absolutely love this back pack! I have lower back pain and was searching for a book bag made of natural materials. I also wanted a “chic” looking bag that I could wear to my office events and my recreational activities. While this bag was a bit beyond my budget, once I learned it was made from three plastic bottles I knew I had to purchase it! I also really like how minimal the branding is as it is sewn in rather than on the circular patch.

He is orthopedic? My son liked it, it fits in a lot?

the hype is legit. this seemingly little bag holds a lot of stuff and is very durable. the straps are thin and don’t seem like they are sturdy but they most definitely are. the most useful aspect of this bag is the tiny straps on top of the bag, i think i use it more than the back straps (slip my arm through and hold it like a purse) because it’s so convenient and seems even more sturdy.

I LOVE THIG BAG SO MUCH! It’s the ideal bag for travel whether flying or driving. I’ve taken this on both international flights and road trips and it’s amazing how much it fits! My iPad Air, passports, tickets, wallet, snacks, diaper stuff and change of clothes for the kids, etc. I have actually stopped using my diaper bag since I got this. It’s so much easier to have this (very cute) bag instead and to be hands free! The pink rose is a great color and matches my Marmot parka perfectly. It’s a slightly purple tinted pink but lovely. I’d love to add to my kanken collection but I already have two and any more would be excessive….that plum is tempting me though! I much prefer the size of this bag to the mini which was actually quite small in person and I’m a very petite person so I thought would be better initially. Worth the money as I’ve used it a ton in the short time I’ve had it already.

This backpack is very spacious, the color I got is absolutely amazing, the material is very strong . It has a compartment inside so you can put your laptop or tablet. The handles are sturdy, and it has a pocket outside so you can put all of your small items and on the sides has two narrow pockets for umbrella or water bottle. Despite the thin shoulder straps it is very comfortable to wear. It has no cushion for the back , but this one carry a foam that function like a cushion and a seat. I am very happy with it. I love it

I love this backpack! I’m 5′ tall and small framed, and I’d originally purchased the Kanken Mini because I thought the smaller version would be better for my size – I use a backpack in place of a daily purse / gym bag, and I didn’t want to look like I was headed off to grade school or embarking on a trek up Mt. Everest every time I carried the thing around. The Mini is a great size (for me) for regular usage, but I also wanted something that could carry an extra sweater, a larger water bottle and a few more items. I was worried this regular Kanken size would be too bulky, but even when packed full, I’m pretty sure it does’t look overwhelming.
Pros: Size – when lightly filled (and without the foam back insert), the bag lays casually and loosely and looks smaller and compact. Aesthetics – I bought the black Re-Kanken, and while it *does* indeed love collecting lint and pet fur, it’s nothing that a quick lint-roll can’t fix. I love the Re-Kanken design with the embroidered logo, as it’s much more understated and less in-your-face than the classic red & white patch on the original design; I’m in my 30s, and I can use this bag without it looking like I just stole it from a kid at a bus stop. Function – there’s just enough organization to keep things in place while not being overly complicated. The front zip pocket holds chapstick, pens and smaller items, the large main compartment is roomy enough to fit a ton of stuff and the slip-in back pocket is great for a tablet, loose papers, etc. I use the side pockets to hold my phone and some other random items, as they’re deep enough to ensure that stuff won’t slip out when I’m at the gym. I love the top carry handles, as they make picking up the bag super easy and also can be used to carry the backpack around in your hand like a tote. The zipper (and optional button handle clasp) feels much more secure than a drawstring closure or flap, and I don’t need to worry that all my crap will fall out if the bag tips over. Price point – $90 for a solid, quality bag is worth it, to me!
Cons: I don’t mind this, but if you’re looking to use the side pockets for a water bottle, you better have a *very* narrow bottle – I have Yeti water bottles (of all sizes) and they sure as hell wouldn’t fit into those side pockets if their water bottle lives depended on it. This isn’t meant to be a technical hiking backpack, and I actually like the simple straps (as opposed to bulky, padded, sternum-strapped straps), but I took one dinky star off for the fact that the straps *can* be a tad uncomfortable if you really load the bag up (i.e. when using it as a travel carry-on).
TL; DR: This bag is great, buy one, you won’t regret it (especially with Zappos’ return policy and great customer service!).

This is a fantastic backpack. I love that the zippers go down almost all the way on both sides. It holds so much more than expected. It is simple, straight-forward, and so so useful. I use it as my bag for work, and like with the Re-Kanken that the logo blends in with the rest of the bag.

This is the FOURTH backpack by Fjallraven that I’ve purchased. We LOVE these backpacks. They are super minimalistic so the backpack itself weighs almost nothing. And despite it not looking big, this backpack can hold a lot. I find it very comfortable to wear all day when roaming around town or even hiking. I have hiking backpacks but actually prefer my Fjallraven bag for day hikes. The straps don’t look comfortable but they are surprisingly easy to wear for hours.
This backpack doesn’t have a lot of compartments, but I find that actually makes it lighter and easy to use. It also looks nice enough that I’m comfortable wearing it to the office.
I’ve previously purchased the regular Kanken packs but I really like this one with the stitched logo. It’s less obvious and more discreet. I’d definitely get this one if you want to maintain the lightweight nature but want something a bit more professional/mature looking.

I use it as a diaper bag for my second child. We like the logo being minimal on this design. It is a basic bag there is one large flat pocket with the “seat pad” as the only padding in the back of the bag, it has the one small pocket on the front (which is pretty small but it fits my wallet when I am running errands and a chapstick or pacifier). The side pockets are flat and aren’t really big enough for any reusable water bottle but fits my phone (pixel) perfectly and I usually throw our masks in the other side when I am leaving the house so they are easy to grab at our destination. It is not waterproof and will not prevent your things from getting wet. I do use numerous pouches/cubes inside for organization (mostly free cosmetic ones). So diapers, wipes and disposable changing pad liner in 1 pouch, I have a small pouch: for my baby, my older child, first aid and myself. I have a re-useable changing pad (freebie from registering), swaddle and small blanket rounding it out and it is about 2/3s full so I can add other things as needed.

This backpack is better than I even imagined! Love the monochrome color scheme and the size is perfect! Tons of room even though it doesn’t look very big, took this on a trip to Alaska and it was just perfect for trekking mountains, glaciers, ATVs and even perfectly withstood some rain! Highly recommend and love the fact that this is recycled from water bottles! A++++++

Perfect size for first grader’s school bag. Fits a folder or small binder and a lunchbox. We also bought the water bottle add on that she uses sometimes and she loves the deep purple color.

Have had this for a few years. I take it everywhere. Durable, washable and holds a fair amount without being bulky for me.

I bought this backpack for everyday use because I know Fjällräven’s products are well made, and it’s also recycled.
It is very light weight and the color is exactly as pictured.
The reason I gave it a lower rating is because of the construction. Unlike other Fjällräven bags the Re-Kånken does not hold its shape. Filling it just extends the bag, making it awkward to carry.
After a month using it, it was already beginning to show signs of wear because the material is not as sturdy as their other bags. I know this is a result of the material being recycled but it detracts from the way their other bags look. I returned it and bought a traditional Kånken backpack that I am much more happy with.

Even when full, you don’t feel the weight on your shoulders at all. The material makes it somewhat lighter than their original.

ive had this bag for 5 years now and its still in pristine shape. its the perfect school bag and fits more than expected. once im not in school, i can see myself using it for short trips and camping since its so versatile. the re-kanken is such high quality and i intend to use it for many years to come.
